Transforming Outdoor Spaces: Patefield's Residential Landscaping Project

Recently, we had the pleasure of transforming the Patefield residence in Winnsboro, South Carolina, with a comprehensive landscaping project that combined functionality, aesthetics, and sustainable practices. Tackling Drainage Challenges
Rainwater runoff can be a persistent issue for homeowners, and the Patefield property was no exception. Our team implemented customized drainage solutions to manage water flow effectively, protecting the landscape from erosion and water damage. By addressing this challenge first, we ensured the property's foundation was secure before proceeding to the beautification phase.
Elevating Garden Beds with Premium Mulch
To enhance the property's visual appeal, we applied 20 yards of premium brown mulch to the garden beds. This not only provided a polished and uniform appearance but also helped retain soil moisture and suppress weed growth. Before adding the mulch, we removed accumulated pine needles, leaves, weeds, and other debris to create a clean canvas for the new landscaping elements.
Creating Natural Edges
A key element of the project was establishing a natural edge between the grass and garden beds. This technique not only defines and separates these areas but also contributes to a clean, professional look that highlights the property’s design.
Revitalizing the Lawn
The existing lawn presented several challenges, including compacted soil, moss, and overgrown weeds. To address this, we utilized a Harley rake to:
Break up compacted soil
Remove moss
Turn over existing turf, weeds, and roots
Once the lawn was prepared, we moved on to grading and leveling, ensuring a smooth and even surface for the next phase of the project.
Installing New Turf and Sod
To provide a lush, healthy lawn, we installed 50 yards of nutrient-rich Turf Max soil, followed by Zoysia and Bermuda sod. These grass varieties are known for their durability, drought resistance, and vibrant appearance, making them an excellent choice for the South Carolina climate. Additionally, we laid down 6,500 square feet of leach field sod, further enhancing the property’s functionality and aesthetic appeal.
